In cooperation with Cooperating Netherlands Foundations for Central Europe and Eastern – CNF CEE in year 2008 has started a program to support the process of social transition in Montenegro. Our assistance has been given to non-profit organizations that introduce innovative methodologies and services in social care system of Montenegro. With this program, organizations were encouraged to offer creative and innovative solutions, taking into account the condition of the existing social system and the capacity of state institutions.

In Social Transition program participated organizations that propose new methods in social care and protection, especially if they are beneficiaries themselves in the implementing services (e.g. training for parents of children with disabilities to work individually with their children).. It is particularly encouraged inclusion of volunteers in new programs and linking institutions, local authorities and private sector.

Social Transition program has ended in April 2012.

Within this program we have supported projects of local NGOs targeting following beneficiaries:

People with disabilities (children and youth)

  • Vulnerable children and youth: without parental care, children living in foster families, children living in poverty
  • Women (single mothers, victims of violence, unemployed women, Roma women)
  • Single parents
  • Elderly
  • Drug addicts

Financial support for the duration of this program is over half a million Euros (€572,889) through the implementation of 41 projects. The maximum grant amount was € 15.000 – € 20.000.
